We have been soaking up our busy days – giving all of our time and love to sweet Bennie. We are excited to finally share some updates with you all so that you can continue to follow along on our journey.
October:
After Bennie recovered from her surgery and graduated from the NICU, we transferred to OHSU to meet Bennie’s wonderful gastrointestinal and TPN team. We stayed for a week to be sure that Bennie’s IV nutrition was working just right for her to be safe at home.
We got to come home on October 26 – Bennie turned 3 months old that day! Getting home was a whirlwind. We were so excited and also a little overwhelmed getting all of her home IV system set up. We have a wonderful home nurse who has guided us along the way.

We had a small bump in the road with an infected surgical site that landed us in the hospital for 1 night to get started on some IV antibiotics. We were thankful Bennie responded well and it was a short visit.
November:
We had such a sweet time introducing Bennie to some family and friends as we gained more and more confidence as parents.

Bennie’s Health:
Bennie has continued to make improvements with her overall health and development. She continues to require IV nutrition and will for a while. Her labs indicating her liver health have improved greatly over the last month. She is growing well- just over 9 lbs now!
We are getting more confident with Bennie’s IV. It gets set up in a backpack that we are able to take with us on the go. This is especially helpful because Bennie has a lot of appointments.
She loves to breastfeed and drink from the bottle. She continues to get a limited amount of breast milk to be sure not to overwhelm her intestine while it continues to work to grow and adapt.
She is the sweetest baby! She loves to snuggle, look at lights and rattles, smile at mom and dad, hang out in the solly wrap carrier, and spend time with family.
She is almost 5 months old! Her corrected age is almost 2 months old. Her development follows the corrected age until around age 2.

We are looking forward to all the fun and snuggles in the months to come!
